Newtown Governors’ Strategic Priorities 2017 – 2018

 

  1. Standards: to ensure all pupils make substantial progress and learn well.
  2. Community: to celebrate and promote the values of “Embracing Excellence, Celebrating Diversity, Nurturing Individuality” to the Newtown Community through our website and all our communications.
  3. Leadership: to secure the leadership of the school, both within Newtown and in developing partnerships with other schools.

 

Governors’ Tasks:

 

  • Lead governors monitor the 7 statutory areas: Finance, Safeguarding, Health & Safety and Premises, Staffing, Teaching and Learning, SEND & Inclusion, Community & Parent links.
  • All governors monitor the School Improvement Plan: eg planned visits as identified in the SIP, attending staff meetings and staff training, learning walks, pupil interviews, book scrutinies, data scrutiny, challenge questions.
  • All governors are responsible for Safeguarding – and should report any issues that arise during a visit.
