Welcome to Owl Class!

Welcome to Owl Class! Our teachers are Mrs Ward (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and Mrs Dingle-Jones (Thursday and Friday) and our TA is Karen White. Our class is a mixed year one and two.

This term our topic is 'Castles and Crowns’. We will be looking at different castles in the local area and describing the features of them. In science we will be looking at materials and their properties.

Due to Covid-19 both of our PE sessions will be outside these will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. This term we will be focusing on multi-skills. Please ensure that your child's full kit remains in school all week so that they are able to participate in lessons.

In the mornings:

The school gates open at 8:45, and the children are expected to hang up their coats and bookbags and play in the playground until the whistle goes at 9:00. Children will then be expected to wash their hands and water bottles need to be placed in the tray next to the door. When the children arrive in the classroom, there will be early morning tasks for them to complete to set them up for the day ahead.

Homework will be slightly different this term. There will be no books going home but a maths homework challenge sheet will be added to Class Dojo. Children can pick a task to do each week and send photos back to the teachers via Class Dojo. Spellings will be sent home for the whole half term and the weekly tests will be on every Tuesday.

All children will participate in ‘Time Table Rock Stars’ in the Spring term.

Reading books will be allocated every Monday and returned to school on Fridays. Reading record books will be stored in school. The children will have a library visit every Friday to choose a book for the weekend. These will be returned to the library each Friday and will be safely quarantined before being returned to the library.
